offers true two-way, stand alone, high-speed broadband access
and multimedia platform for Internet access, telephony and content
distribution.
Due to the intelligent application of base station/gateway
box technology, the FastONE Solution
exceeds the capabilities of most existing DSL applications,
providing the quality of private
line services at a fraction of the cost. The system provides
effective throughput using TCP (Transmission Control Protocol)
acceleration, bandwidth on demand and guaranteed Quality
of Service (QoS) techniques. The low-cost terminals work
with small antennae
(0.8 to 2.4) meters in diameter that fit on building rooftops
and walls. Because of our use of open standard satellite
technology, there are no geographical limits to our service.

Fastnet has teamed up with the most advanced
providers of public access wireless services to offer seamless
connectivity between customers premises and the Fastnet network.
This allows us to offer a reliable, secure and low cost shared
network solution to customers.
It also allows us to quickly connect users to
our shared user service, where up to fifty users can efficiently
share a single FastONE installation.
The inclusion of a wireless base station at
our gateway provides for full nomadic networking within a customers
building or clustered work site.
For customers with an existing
broadband connection, our IP-High wireless solution is available
as a stand alone application.

FastZONE Voice
and Data Mobility and Roaming
As part of the FastONE Solution
we have incorporated the ability of portable voice and data devices
to be used anywhere
within a FastONE cell,
as well as to roam between cells. In particular, we have developed
the ability to allow hand off between
adjacent FastZONE
cells, allowing users of mobile devices to freely roam throughout
areas covered by the FastZONE services.
This use is included in the basic Fastnet Broadband monthly
subscription. Telephone calls between registered FastZONE users
within a FastZONE cell are free. Mobile telephone calls
to non-Fastnet customers are charged at the FastZONE rates.
